Introduction

1. Introduction

BlenderSync for Revit is a Revit add-in that keeps your Blender scene in sync with your live Revit model. Work in Revit, push your changes to Blender on demand or in real time, and pull Blender-modelled geometry back into Revit as ready-to-place families.

How the system works

BlenderSync is a two-part system:

  • BlenderSync for Revit — the add-in covered by this manual. It installs into Revit, adds a ribbon tab, and handles all sync and capture operations.
  • BlenderSync for Blender — a companion Blender add-on that runs an HTTP server inside Blender. This server is what the Revit add-in connects to. Without it running, syncing and capturing are not possible.

Both components are made by GoThereSoftware. This manual covers the Revit side. For the Blender side, see blender.gotheresoftware.no.

Who this manual is for

This manual is written for architects and 3D artists who use both Revit and Blender. Whether you are working solo or as part of a studio, the workflows are the same. Some sections (installation, licensing) are also relevant to BIM managers or IT staff who set up and maintain the add-in.
