Installing BlenderSync
2. Installing BlenderSync
Download
Download the setup file from blendersync.gotheresoftware.no. The installer is a single .exe file: BlenderSync-Setup-v<version>.exe. No additional files are needed.
What the installer does
The setup app is a step-by-step wizard. It detects your Revit installation, collects your acceptance of the license agreement, and delegates the actual file installation to the Windows MSI system. You do not need to run it as an administrator unless your Revit installation is in a location that requires elevated access.
Installation steps
Step 1 — Welcome
The Welcome screen detects whether BlenderSync is already installed. If it is not installed, you will see an Install option. If it is already installed, you will see an Uninstall option. Choose accordingly and click Next.
Step 2 — Revit Discovery
The installer scans your system for Revit installations. All found versions are listed. Only Revit 2026 is supported — any other versions found will be shown as Not supported and cannot be selected. Select Revit 2026 and click Next.
If no Revit installations are found, confirm that Revit 2026 is installed on this machine under the same user account. See Troubleshooting for more.
Step 3 — License Agreement
Read the license agreement and check the acceptance checkbox. The Next button is blocked until you accept. Click Next to continue.
Step 4 — Ready
A summary of your selections is shown before anything is installed. Review the Revit version and click Install to begin.
Step 5 — Progress
The installer runs silently in the background. A progress indicator shows the current status. This step typically takes less than a minute.
Step 6 — Finished
- On success: a confirmation message is shown. If a Windows restart is required, that will be noted here — restart before launching Revit.
- On failure: an error message is shown. Click Open log file to see the installer log.
Installer log
The installer writes a log to:
%TEMP%\BlenderSync_Install_<yyyyMMdd_HHmmss>.log
If installation fails, open this file for error details. The Open log file button on the Finished screen opens it directly.
Upgrading
To upgrade to a newer version, run the new setup exe. The installer handles the upgrade automatically — you do not need to uninstall first.
Uninstalling
Run the same setup exe you used to install, and choose Uninstall on the Welcome screen. Alternatively, use Windows Add or Remove Programs and search for BlenderSync.
